Need help with Nappy Bag

    Need help with Nappy Bag
    on: March 15, 2010, 08:52:27 AM
With a crappy Brother sewing machine and zero experience using any sewing machine, I somehow managed to get most of a nappy bag done yesterday for my cousins baby shower gift (TWINS!).

I am stuck at the part where I sew the lining to the exterior of the bag.

My exterior is inside out (canvas side out), and the lining is inside of it, print side out (up against the print side of my exterior). Is this correct? It looks so completely wrong and I know once it's turned inside out through the hole it could be right but want to make sure. I'd hate to have to spend a few hours pulling out stitches (I've already done this enough yesterday!)

Also, just to make check, when the pattern refers to RIGHT & WRONG sides, the side with print would be right, back would be wrong.... right?

    Thanks!!!!!!!

Without looking at the pattern/directions I cannot be 100% sure but usually you put the right sides together.  One will be inside out, the other right side out.  Then you tuck the strap inside, sew around the edge, leave a small opening and then turn so that the right sides are out.  Congrats to your cousin - I have twins.  It is a wild and wonderful ride.

Thank you! Both right sides are together with the canvas (middle layer) on the outside, so I'll go with it and see, it has me sew the inside of straps and around the top of bag, leaving 4" unsewn at the top of each strap to pull through. Congrats on your twins! I have ONE 3 year old girl and couldnt even imagine two of her. I might go insane  Smiley
