timtex vs. decor bond vs. fast2fuse

timtex vs. decor bond vs. fast2fuse

Can someone who has felt/used Timtex, Fast2Fuse and Pellon Decor Bond comment on them?  If so how do they compare/contrast?  I've never seen Decor Bond and am wondering how it compares to Timtex (which I have used and like).

I may venture into bag sewing one of these days and I'm really unsure about which interfacing to use.  I've got the book "The New Handmade" and would love to try several projects in there.  I've got some Timtex and Fast2Fuse on hand.  I also have fusible tricot that I use for clothing and some tailoring interfacing.  What's your favorite mid weight interfacing for bags? If you have a favorite bag interfacing, please share the name.  Clothing interfacing is easier to choose, or at least it seems that way to me.

    thanks,

I don't know but I want to hear what other people have to say. I hate choosing interfacing.

I did just buy some decorbond and it is much lighter than the Timtex  I have seen but I haven't used either. And I think the decorbond may come in more than one weight, increasing the confusion of course.

Thanks!  That's just what I wanted to know.  If you do use it soon, let me know how you like it.  I would just buy some but my local Hancock's says they've never heard of it.   Huh

The difference between Timtex and Decor Bond is HUGE, in my opinion.  When I make my bags, I use the Decor Bond right next to the fabric, just to give it some body to keep its shape.  You can use the Timtex or fast2fuse on the inside, fuse it to the Decor bond to give your bag more substance.  I've tried making the bag without the decor bond and somehow, it doesn't hold up as well.  You could try making a small bag sample to see what I mean.

Hmmm...do you mean to fuse the Docor Bond to the Timtex and then use it as a sew-in interfacing? If so, I think that I like that idea because no matter how careful I am when I fuse, the purse will usually look wrinkly after it's made.

So sorry, haven't been on this for awhile.  Too many of life's other distractions!  I fuse the Decor Bond to the fabric, then fuse the Timtex to the Decor Bond.  It still does get wrinkly, but not too bad.  Actually, I think it gives it character!  None of my customers have ever complained.
