Serger parts?

    Serger parts?
    on: September 02, 2008, 09:34:13 AM
I just got a new serger(well new to me) from Ebay, its a Speedylock 1600.  There were some parts missing, like the Spool holders for the cones of thread, and I was wondering if anyone knew where to get new ones?

Also how do you clean a Serger?  The whole machine is totally dirty... and I don't want to put anything on it that would break or damage it in any way?

    Thanks for all you help!!!

      Try here:  http://www.all-sewing-machine-parts.com

But what brand is the serger?  There are plenty of manuals online (free and for sale).  Believe me you need a manual.  You will never be able to use it properly without knowing how it's threaded and its recommended tensions.  Some sergers need special needles too.

The thread cone is not that big a deal, you can buy free-standing thread cone holders from any sewing notions place like newark dressmaker supply or homesew.com, clothilde.com or nancys notions.

          Go to the white webpage
          http://whitesewing.com
and see if their customer service can help.  If I were you, I'd ask for factory service. It is going to cost you at least $100, plus parts.
