Hello Everyone! What a wonderful site! First off I will say I am NOT a sewer! My momis AMAZING but I was always too bored with it to learn and look who wants to learn now! My mom now lives in another state..bummer! Anyway, I want to make dresses like the one i have the link to below. Actually i woudl like to make them in spaghetti strap, tube smocked and halter. I just like the fabric it is so soft and cool for Florida. I thouoght it was Jersey Knit or polly/ spandex but fabrics are called so many things and I  I dont know what I am looking for when I am online looking at fabric by the yard to buy. How do you buy 63% Polyester, 32% Rayon, 5% Spandex? There are so many variations! So what is soft like this stuff? Please be specific. I want soft and flowing not clingy or shapley.

Thank you in advance and sorry for my stupidity

P.s. I have been looking up Polyester and I dont think thats what I want. I want a T-Shirt type material. Not the type you snag along your hands. Undecided

Polyester doesn't breath. I think it would be okay in that style, especially with the rayon content.

If I was making that style I would look for cotton or rayon voile or gauze and sew it in two layers. It would have a little softer look but I think it would be more comfortable. And because of the style, there is no need for the fabric itself to have stretch. Those look like they are shirred with elastic in the bodice. There are lots of online tutorials.

it is really hard to buy fabric online until you have some experience buying it in person. The contents only tell part of the story.

Good luck. That should be a pretty simple construction. There are lots of ladies on here who have done more of the elastic shirring than I have if you need help with that.
