Baby blanket with applique tutorial/pattern

    Baby blanket with applique tutorial/pattern

    Our friends have just had a beautiful baby girl who is a real miracle. She is five weeks premature and has spina bifida and severe hydrocephalus and was not expected to live, but is now four days old. I would love to make her a very special blanket with perhaps her name on it and have some lovely, soft pink fleece.
    Could anyone give me some advice about how I could perhaps make a top for a small baby blanket, maybe with heart appliques one of which I will embroider her name on and then I will use the fleece for the backing?
