Singer 8280 problem

Hi everyone ,

I am new to the forum and am hoping that someone out there might have an answer for me.  My Singer is about 4 years old and has not been used in 3 years.  I recently took it out of the box to start sewing and found that, for some reason, the material is not staying tight between the presser foot and feed dogs.  Have tried everything with no luck.  Somewhere someone said to use the feed dog lever to engage but have NO idea where this would be.  Can someone help me out?

Hi Sheila - I know this is kind of late so you may already have a solution. I used to have a Singer and the feed dog switch was tricky to find. You had to remove the free-arm/accessory tray attachment and it was underneath.
