Invisible Zipper...Part 2!

    Invisible Zipper...Part 2!
    on: May 30, 2010, 07:34:02 PM
I posted earlier that I am going to try to use an invisible zipper on a pattern that calls for a regular zipper.  I hope someone can guide me here...the pattern is a lined dress.  I assume that using the inv. zip means that I should leave the lining and exterior detached at the back/top of the neck so that I can start the zipper there.  Does that sound right?  Thanks!  I appreciate all the info and knowledge on this board!

You should be able to follow the same directions that are in your pattern for the preparing the garment for the zipper.  The only difference really is how you're sewing the zipper into the garment.
It might be easier to baste the lining and exterior fabric together on either side of the seam and then insert the zipper. This way you are making sure both layers are attached to the zipper.
Here's my favorite YouTube video for inserting invisible zippers: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UzVLRsoOVzY
