How do you draw a circle?

How do you draw a circle?
    on: September 04, 2008, 04:40:19 PM
I bought a hat I like and am trying to re-create a pattern onto tissue paper for it.  This is my first time doing something like this.

I'm stumped at how to draw a nice, even circle of a specific size though.  Do I use a compass?

Yes, I would use a compass.  Or, you can try to find something like a glass or bowl to trace.

Mellissa has good ideas. Another thing I do it just open up Word, Powerpoint or similar program and then draw a circle on the computer and print it out. I use these for templates and they can easily be adjusted to print any size.

If you don't have a compass, another way is with a toothpick, pencil and some string.  Tie one end of the string onto the toothpick and the other on the pencil.  The length of the string between the toothpick and pencil should be 1/2 the diameter of the circle you want.  Stick your toothpick into the paper and hold it still.  Then simply draw a circle with your pencil while keeping the string taut as you make your way around the toothpick.  Make sense?
