Cutter quilt
on: September 05, 2008, 10:52:15 AM
I just bought a Grandmother's Flower Garden quilt for ten dollars at an estate sale. It is totally handsewn, and about 2/3 of the flowers are still in great condition (the other 1/3 are super torn and/or stained, so it really can't be used as bedding any longer). All I can think to do with it is make throw pillows. Does anyone have other suggestions? Or, if you have cut up quilts before (I haven't), do you have any tips or advice before I proceed?

Sounds good to me! I am sure the quiltmaker would rather see the damaged quilt used in some creative way than hidden in a box because it is now useless! You can also make stuffed animals with it, or totes, but pillows are nice. You might try some unusual shapes, like bolster pillows.
