Clothes For My Daughter!

    Clothes For My Daughter!
    on: September 05, 2008, 10:16:42 PM
Hello, my name is Kristi and I'm a sew-aholic.  Really, this is my first post here.  I just joined today!

I'm constantly sewing things for my store, for gifts, for other useful purposes etc...  But realized I hadn't made many clothes for my daughter.  So I fixed that!

The main inspirations for these outfits came from fabric I LOVED.  The first one here is using a skort pattern by SewSensible http://www.sewsensible.blogspot.com/ .  Her patterns are so easy to follow and fun to use, again and again.  I've made I think 5 of her boutique tops and bottoms  (all as gifts except the first test one for my daughter).  Anyway, back to this outfit, I just bought a plain white girl's tee at Target, cut a circle out of the accent fabric and a flower out of the main fabric and attached each to the tee with Steam a Seam 2.  Then straight stitched them right on.  Please note I'm adding the link to the photo if you wish to get a closer look.

This fabric (below) had me on the floor in tears of delight when I first noticed it.  I saw it made up in a little girl's pinafore and was inspired to make something a little more grown up for my 4 1/2 year old.  I wanted to keep it simple, very simple, because the fabric just speaks for itself.  I found some really pretty blue buttons with floral designs on them to use at the top of the straps.  This was made using Butterick pattern 3772 in a size 6.

And I thought I'd also show the outfit (test boutique top and pants) I mentioned above.  (Wow, this was taken in February 08, my has she grown).  The others that I made as gifts were much prettier, but I saw only 1/2 of one on one of the children I made it for.  (Her pants were too big, so her mom used the top as a dress).

Next time I'll show you the wristlets I'm making.  And a little stuffed owl I just designed and whipped up tonight for a shower gift.

please look at my etsy shop for some other item's I've made...
