Puckered Curves

    Puckered Curves
    on: September 05, 2008, 10:43:45 PM
I thought I knew how to avoid puckered curves, but clipping around the curves (cutting notches).  So  I made a little stuffed owl and clipped the curves quite a bit, but still have puckers.  Any other tricks?  I keep trying to nudge the stuffing around, but that exercise seemed futile after a while.  I'd like to make more of these cuties (pics later when it's light out), but don't want to make more puckers.

    Thanks

    Kristi

      Steam?

Convex curves (which will be turned right side out to be concave curves) should be notched. Concave curves (which turn right side out to be convex curves) should be snipped.

Not to seem like the total newbie I am (lol) but what exactly is snipped when used in this context?  Do you just cut as close to the line of stitching as you possibly can, in one motion all around the curve?

yup. Snipped just means making a single cut perpendicular to the stitches as closely as possible while notched looks like a triangle with the tip as close to the stitches as possible.   Wink
