    on: June 29, 2010, 09:16:23 PM
I'm hoping someone here can help me.
I made DS a pair of linen shorts last summer and want to make him more for the upcoming one. The ones I made him were 'natural' colour does linen come in a range of colours or jsut natural.
Also I recieved my first magazines from my Ottobre subscription yesterday and one of the patterns calls for a linen chambray
can anyone tell me the difference between linen and linen chambray?

Chambray is referring to the pattern of the weave.  The colored lengthwise (warp) threads are woven over white or a contrasting color crosswise (weft) threads.  The resulting fabric has a nice subtle bi-color look.  You've doubtlessly seen it on menswear shirts--it gets used a lot.  It's lovely lovely stuff.  Here's an idea:

All kinds of linen....  http://www.fabrics-store.com/  I've never ordered anything but samples from them, but I'm very tempted...  The samples were nice.

Their "yarn dye" section has some chambray looking fabrics in it.  (as well as other things)

I learned something new today from another Elizabeth; I did not know that chambray refers to the weave of the fabric. Thanks
