Zigging but not zagging

    Zigging but not zagging
    on: June 29, 2010, 10:14:15 PM
I'm looking for suggestions to help solve my zig zagging problem.

When trying to sew knit "bias" tape around the edge of a sleeve opening, my machine had a lot of trouble zagging.  It kept wanting to drop the right side stitch (so zigging was fine, but zagging didn't go so well...).

If I sewed faster, it seemed to go a bit better, but it still wasn't good.  The bias tape was double fold, but still was fairly thin.  I know the needle was going through the material.  I have a Brother CS 6000i.

Are you using a Stretch needle? You might see a difference if you switch from just a knit needle to one that specifically for stretch fabrics.

It is a stretch needle, I believe.  I don't think it was just a ball point needle.

I'll have to check when I get home.

If it's still not working, I heard that sticking a piece of tissue paper between the layers will help catch the stitch. You can then tear any extra off the the rest will disappear in the wash.
