A new quilt & quilting question

A new quilt & quilting question
    on: September 09, 2008, 06:24:07 AM
I've done very basic quilting and bound my quilt today. I'm not sure if I've done enough "quilting" or if I need to do more. the lady at the store implied I needed to do heaps and sew on every triangle. Is that true? Must I sew on everything? If so, I'll be back at the machine soon.  I'm self-taught so, I'd love any and all advice to improve my skills!  Thanks for your help!

Amount of quilting depends on the type of batting you used.  The batting I normally uses recommends quilting 4" or less so I try make sure I don't have any spaces larger than that.  Your lines look farely close together so it's probably fine.
      Looks good!

i too am new to quilting and just was doing what i wanted. however a couple of weeks ago, i sent 2 quilts out to be quilted since i was falling behind and she changed the batting i requested based on the space between the quilted areas. i would read the information on the batting you or using or check with someone that commercially does quilting. they have to make sure their work stands up to the wear and tear or they will not get repeat business. hope this helps. btw, the quilt looks great!
