There are a few charity organizations that make quilts and things for a good cause that you might like to donate to.  Some third world mothers trying to begin a business to feed their family.  Check it out.  I wish I had the links for you.  Sorry.

Scraps of several different types would be great on stuffed baby blocks... satin on one side, corduroy on another, flannel on another.  Heavy fabric scraps (jeans, canvas) could be sewn together to make small totes.  Flannel makes a great backing for baby and kid quilts - so snuggly.

Another idea, depending on the size of your scraps, is a paperback book cover with built-in bookmark.  My mother-in-law uses one she made years ago for most of her reading; it's quite handy.  I just did a quick search and found a tutorial here:

I was going to try to read all the comments but got tired after 3 pages! So, I hope my suggestions are not repeats. Scrappy flannel toys: bears, etc. Sew them all together crazy quilt kind of..then, cut it all in strips, mix up and sew back together. Sew the flannel all together and make a preview wall for your quilt blocks.

I personally have a large amount of scraps that are awaiting my retirement.  I want to make scrap quilts, string quilts, etc.  I have enough to keep me busy until my 80's and I am only 61!!!  If you have too many one place that may be very happy to receive some fabric are retirement or senior citizens centers for ladies who can still quilt but may not have the $$$ for fabric.   I know I would go crazy if I didn't have something to do with my hands.
If you are wanting to keep your scraps, you can sort them by colors, or by different sizes of squares, or different widths of fabrics.  Then put these squares or strips in plastic containers.

I just collect them and fondle them every once in a while.  I have many of my scraps sorted by color in glass jars in my sewing room.  Others are piled in a box.  I intend to one day make scrap quilts, doll quilts, baby clothes, bookmarks, etc.

I sort them by color and cut them into strips and squares. Sometimes I make half square triangle units or little nine patches. When the pile is large enough, you can choose a layout. There are many churches or charities that accept fabric, also. Maybe check at your local quilt shop.

Scraps are great! I made 30 needle cases for swaps with scraps, picnic cloth, place mats, totes, mini quilts, book covers, pincushins, toaster cover, pot holders, mp3 cases, cell phone, kids purses...it's endless what you can use them for.

I'm a very new quilter and already have a lot of scraps!  I like quilts made from scraps so I'm definitely saving mine.  When they get to be too much I like the idea of passing some on to a new quilter or to a retirement home.

What I'm struggling with now is how to organize/store the scraps!  Do I just throw them in a container, or do I cut them now and organize them by size?  I've seen Bonnie Hunters system but have to admit I've wondered how realistic it is!

Ooooh, how lucky to have some choices. . .a good one I've found for flannel is to make raggedy edge quilts. Several of the "Turning Twenty" patterns are perfect for this. Something I recently did with some Christmas fabrics was to cut them into
1 1/4", 1 1/2", 1 3/4" and 2" strips. Choosing one strip from each width I sewed them together into strip sets, subcut them into 4 1/2"  x 7 1/2" blocks then sewed these together in rows using a 2" sashing between columns. I loved the way it turned out and I used a lot of scraps! Good luck with yours!

Depending on the size of the scrap; I cut them into 1.5, 2, 2.5 inch strips -or- 1.5, 2, 2.5, 3.5 or 4.5 inch squares.
Then I stack them according to size (lights in one stack and med/ darks in the other.  Then I put the stacks away in plastic containers.  When I have enough stacks stocked up... i make scrappy quilt!

I like to use small pieces of left over fabric to sew onto homemade cards (you can sew right through the fabric and the card). Use a longer stitch length so you do not '"cut" the card with the needle holes. (:

If they are very small scraps, you can use them to stuff pillows and softies with.  Just wrap a little bit of your normal poly fil or other stuffing material around it so that you don't end up with a lumpy pillow.

I fill up glass candy jars from Ikea or Walmert.  You know the big huge ones you would find in an old fashion candy store.  They sit out on shelves and temp me to make more things so I can add more scraps.  Then when I have a few jars full I will make the scrappy cabin quilt.  Here is the tutorial for it.
