I've made many many "mile a minute" quilts. Here's the tutorial- they're super simple:

I love that you just whack the larger scraps down to strips with a rotary cutter and ruler, and then have at it. They end up all jumbled and cute, then I square off the edges of each block and put the squares together. I don't use a foundation, because I like the look when they get a bit uneven as you sew. They're squared off before sewing together, so that means I don't really need something to keep them stable as they're going together. I think the foundation would help if you don't want that look.
And totally gratuitous cheesy picture of my nieces and nephew with their quilts:

I may never leave my sewing room again after reading this blog!!! I never realized those blocks were so easy to do, and since I don't like foundation piecing for crazy quilts, I've never been able to come up with a good way to use all my scraps . Thank you so much for this link! Well actually, thanks everyone for the entire thread, it's so motivating to see beautiful pictures and know that other sewers are asking the same kinds of questions I am, lol...
Thanks to for the feedback on the need for the foundation, I feel a lot more secure about my already made blocks now :0)
