SMS Contest for Husqvarna s21 Serger

My life would be better with a serger because I would finally be able to finish the seams on the four couch pillows I made 4 months ago that I ADORE but the silly things keep unraveling at the seams no matter what I do (yes i zig zagged, fray checked... used every method i could think of)!! If I had a serger that worked (I currently own a very cheap, very broken one that I have spent countless nights trying to fix) I would be able to finish the edges of my pillows... and that would make me a VERY VERY happy person. After I finished the pillows I will just serge everything I could get my hands on.
I started sewing this January and I immediately fell in love. I am hoping to move onto sewing clothes for me (and my 2 boys) in the near future. I am teaching my self how to read patterns right now and have been experimenting... a  working serger sure would make clothes making a lot more fun!!

If I won this serger, I think I would melt in a fit of tears and happiness!

My best friend and I are constantly sewing costumes and dresses for her daughter, as well as ourselves!  Having a serger would allow us to sew even more in even less time, which would be absolutely fantastic.  We would sew clothes for even more of our friends if I won this, as it would allow us to give our clothes a finished look (something we are definitely lacking now).

I have never owned a serger, because of their price tag, and thus would love to win one!

I have been wanting a serger for so long! My life would be better with a serger because I could finally make up some tunics out of some gauzelike fabrics I bought a couple of years ago. When I saw how much the edges unraveled, I knew only a serger would do the job.

Oooohhh...That's a nice serger!  I do have one already.  A nice little Singer that I've had for over 15 years!  If I had this new Husqvarna, sewing children's clothes would be a dream!  My Singer is temperamental and one of the needles acts up and.....Oh let's face it!  I just WANT that Husqvarna!  Wink

          Thanks for this wonderful giveaway!

Hrm.  So, I'm a grad student, who is currently running out of the clothes bought by my parents for me when I was in high school/college.  I can't afford up to date clothes and food (the perils of the social sciences).  I want to make myself pretty knit clothes...

Wow this would be great to have!  It would replace my current serger which is impossible to thread!

This is a story of two cousins.  One who can sew (me) and one who can't (my cousin).  In May, the Cousin Who Could Sew was slaving over her wedding dress.  She experienced tears, frustration, and 30 yards of gathered tulle before remembering that her sweet little grandmother had a serger to help her finish her seams.  The Cousin Who Could Sew called on her grandma, with a plate of cookies, to see if she might borrow the serger.  The grandmother replied, through bites of cookie, "Oh?  That?  I gave it to your cousin.  You'll have to ask her."  Not to be daunted, the CWCS traveled down the mountain to call on her cousin, no cookies this time.  When asked to borrow the serger, the Cousin Who Could Not Sew replied "Oh? That? I never could figure out what I might use it for...so I sold it."

Sew, Mama, Sew, I NEED that serger.  More over, my family NEEDS that serger.  We are talking about a feud brewing that would rival the Hatfields and McCoys.

Epilogue:  The wedding dress was finished in time for the Solstice wedding, though a few blood spot remain on the lining where CWCS stabbed herself with a needle while handfinishing some of the seams.

A serger would make my sewing life better in two ways.  I would have more professional edges in my garments, and I would save time and frustration because I wouldn't have to deal with zig-zagging edges or creating French seams.  And we all know how important our sanity is....

My life would be easier with a serger so I wouldn't have to make a zillion zigzag stitches to prevent frays!!!

Ohh a new serger would make my sewing so much more efficient.  I also love how professional a serger makes handsewn items look.  I sew for myself and my family quite often and we love knitwear, sergers really shine in this arena as well.

I have a small bag business.  I make project bags for knitters and travelers.  When I started, I didn't have a serger or even a zigzagger option on my old Singer 404 slant needle.  A friend loaned me her HuskyLock serger which I have been using.  It's very basic, but oh, so fiddly when it comes to threading.  I am nursing it along, but would be oh, so much more efficient with a new Husquavrna serger!  I don't have a blog, but my website is www.dance2yarn.etsy.com (Three Bags Full).  Fingers crossed!

After having my daughter 2 years ago, I quit my job to stay home and started my own business making accessories and selling them at various craft shows in the Pittsburgh area. The quality of my items is of highest importance and a serger would allow me to create with even greater quality.

My sewing machine was a gift and is about 15 years old, so this would truly be a nice addition to my studio Smiley

I would be able to create many more clothes for my small business. Currently, I am very limited in the amount of garments I can make because I have to finish seams in other ways (French seams, mainly). Also, I'm really starting to get into working with knits, and wish every time I sew with them that I had a serger to do a nice rolled edge hem!

                              To serge is to splurge
                              Says dear husband of mine
                              You have a Singer—
                              And it sings!
                              What would Dave Ramsey do?
But serger, how I need you.

                              Clip clip, snip snip
                              French seams crush dreams
Have you tried them on a curve?

Think of the children, I say
                              Their shirt that ravels
                              Their pants that fray
                              No stretch, no knits,
                              They give me fits!
                              Serger, serger, come my way.

                              Clip clip, snip snip
                              I tinker with my pinkers
But alas, they will not do!

My mind is whirring with fervor
Whirring like the sound of a serger.
Oh the things I could sew
Oh the hope that is mine
                              I haven’t a bean
                              But I need this machine!

Since I'm doing more garment sewing I'd like to be able to professionally finish my seam edges (even though I still want to learn how to do French and Honk Kong seams).  I marvel at people who are able to whip up a dress or skirt in 1 day with all serged edges.
