    For my entry, I decided to put my English degrees to good use--I've written a mock-heroic poem in anapestic tetrameter about why I'd love to win this serger!

    Ode to the S21

    If I had but a serger, I’d serge day and night,
    Yet not every serger will do the job right;
    Finished garments I’d serge, knits and wovens I’d trim,
    But a serger’s not something to pick on a whim.

    For their features as well as their quality, I’d
    Say that Viking’s machines are created with pride;
    With its 21 stitches and two sewing speeds,
    Viking’s S21 will meet all of my needs.

    With its tension release and its 4/3/2 threads,
    Color-coded its thread paths! built-in its rolled edge!
    Preprogrammed its stitch settings! diff’rential its feed!
    Viking’s S21 is the serger I need.

    Built-in two thread converter, and oh! did I mention
    Its adjustable stitch length and lay-in thread tension?
    Easy threading instructions—and on DVD!
    Viking’s S21 is the serger for me.

    Changes quickly from overlock to coverstitch,
    Piercing pow’r electronic, and lo! safety switch!
    Presser foot universal, and more that snap on!
    Yes, the serger I need is the S21!

    Upper cutter that moves, extra presser foot height,
    On the front is a waste tray, as well as a light!
    As I finish my entry, please note that I so
    Hope that I win this serger from Sew, Mama, Sew!

    Edit: I can't seem to get my entry to show up on the forum page--I hope this will still count as I had it submitted on August 31st.

      I recently had surgery on my left index finger for two severed tendons and a severed nerve due to a misdiagnoisi after a kitchen accident that occurred in July (the surgery was aug 4th). After several brutal weeks away from my sewing machine, during which I’ve been medicated heavily and strapped in uncomfortable splints with a completely non functional left hand while attempting to continue to care for my daughter who turned one. A week and a half ago I made a crafting vow. Once I’m cleared to resume regular activity (hopefully at the end of sept…..right now my finger is held down by a rubber band in my fingernail) I want to complete a crafting project a day for the rest of the year. I understand that’s not an easy task. So, I figure as long As I can average it out to 7 a week I’m within my limits….
      So how would a serger make my life better…..I can’t tell you how many projects on my to do list are things I’ve never started bc I just knew they would be a million times better with a serger…..with a serger I could complete a dream wardrobe for both myself and my daughter….make accessories to go with all the fun gifts
      I hope to get during my wedding this oct….and most importantly craft my butt off after an unbearably long
      Sewing draughts… I’m like a druggie in need of a sewing fix!
      P.s. Please ignore my horrendous typing spelling and grammar…you think it’s hard to sew with one hand? Try typing!!!!!

        My blog entry: http://redzshadow.blogspot.com/2010/08/to-win-serger.html

        Thanks so much for this change to win. I would love to have a real machine to work on and to be able to finish garments/projects.

          If I were to win the Husqvarna Serger not only would my life change but my families.  My husband could finally wear clothes that fit him...nothing sagging, dragging or pulling.  For a hard to fit big guy it would mean the world to him to have a closet full of clothes tailored to him.  One of his deepest desires would become a reality.  For my four sons, they could actually play (you know the boy type of play - rough and tumbly.)  As of right now the clothes I make is more suitable to sitting still, not very little boy friendly.  For me I could let me creative juices run wild.  Being a stay at home mom who homeschools her kids I need a creative outlet and having a serger would open up another door for my creative (true) self to shine through!
