Lost my sew-mojo & looking for inspiration

Lost my sew-mojo & looking for inspiration
    on: September 18, 2010, 03:45:31 AM
This is a desperate request to all those industrious sewers out there.
Over the summer my sewing machine gathered dust, sadly neglected in the corner as I chased children round the beach, made countless sandwiches and washed towels continuously! But its raining now & I am dying to get back to the serenity of me & my sewing machine...The problem is, I have lost that wee spark that used to excite me when I sat down to make something. Undecided
Can any of you recommend a sewing project that has inspired or motivated you or something that you have really enjoyed doing recently?
    Thanks so much

I recently made the Sweet Harmony bag by Amy Butler and was very pleased with the results!  If you can motivate yourself to get through the "cutting out" period, which takes a while, the bag you'll complete will be something you will love to carry this fall.

the other night, I wandered into my (really, insanely messy) craft room, intending to clean it up a bit.

An hour later I walked out with a finished floor pillow. (I used this tutorial: http://3punkmom.blogspot.com/2010/05/tutorial-land-of-nod-inspired-floor.html)

This was my second go at this tute. It takes about an hour, from picking out fabric to snipping the last thread...and it's so satisfyingly CUTE, sitting in a corner, waiting for kidlets to sit down and read!

        Good luck!!

Here's a list of projects I (and some others) have done over the last year or so.  Inspiration if nothing else!

This summer I bought my first embroidery machine, Brother PE-770, and went crazy buying designs and attending workshops. It was so exciting! My first real project was a Vogue bag, V7862, which I made and monogrammed. The construction was very different from other bags I've made and turned out great. When the sew-mojo is fading, I think a project that is different and goes quickly may be the best fix.

I'm currently in the process of making the Folklore Bag from One Yard Wonders. It has really sparked a fire under me to get some of my other projects under way.

Just make sure you get the correction to pattern piecehttp://www.storey.com/correct_book.php?isbn=9781603424493

I know the feeling of losing your sew jo i would advise you to ask yourself what you feel like sewing?

Search for a tutorial online and buy yourself some yummy fabric and get sewing
