I don't know of any tutorials, but there are alot of kits you can buy.
Here's the link to a popular thread regarding this style of doll:  http://sewmamasew.com/forum/index.php?topic=215.0

Some places will even send you the pattern before you buy the kit!  Maybe the way to go...

Just a tip that I caught when I watched it on MS that she shared that is not on the directions...trace the arms and legs on fabric, then sew on the line, THEN cut it out.  Makes it a lot easier than trying to sew little pieces.  She also shared she puts a little rice in the bottom of the body part if you want it to sit.  I've made one so far and it's a fun gratifying project (ie turns out like you expect).  Wink  I'm going to make some more for gifts.

I was having troubles getting my daughter to sleep, so along with story time and a back rub, I made a lavender-infused sleep doll to help her get to dreaming.  You can check out my blog for the tutorial and free pattern.  It's an easy project and you'll even get to try your hand at easy embroidery!

Yeah, I just sewed two dolls based on the black apple doll pattern, and they turned out great. They are skinnier than intended though, because I didn't know the helpful tip from the MS segment, that no seam allowance was included (ie, sew along the lines, THEN cut it out). That explains it! But they are still very cute.
