Pattern markings question

    Pattern markings question
    on: May 14, 2008, 12:17:35 PM
I am fairly new to sewing with a pattern, but the recent tutorials on measuring yourself and patterns inspired me to try a shirt. Since it seems important to have the markings on the fabric, I am wondering the best way to transfer those markings.

I usually use an air-erasable marking pen, although if it's going to take a while, I'll use a water soluble pen instead since the marks may fade before I get finished sewing.

I've tried many things, but found a plain ol' pencil works the best for me.  It usually goes on and washes out easily.

I use a needle and thread. Works great.

I have a pretty good chalk pencil that I picked up from Jo-Ann Craft.  It is like a mechanical pencil.  You can change to different colors of chalk quickly and easily...depending on what fabric you are sewing on.  It came with a lot of chalk and you can buy the refills for it.
