Help!

    Help!
    on: September 27, 2010, 11:45:59 PM
I am somewhat new to sewing and I have been getting into quilting, but have recently encountered some problems.  I frequently have problems with my tension and am spending a lot of time adjusting and readjusting every time I start a new project.

My main problem right now is that I have noticed that when I sew, there are some very tiny little runs that are occasionally created in the fabric.  They are very tiny, just a couple of mm long, and are usually from the seam into the seam allowance.  Is this normal or what could be causing this?

Thanks!  Any help would be appreciated!

Sounds like you might need a new needle. Try replacing it and pay attention to what kind of needle you are using for your projects. Make sure you are using the right size for the weight of fabric you are using.
Generally, the lighter the fabric the lower the needle size, i.e. size 70 needle usually works well with light cottons whereas size 100 works good on home dec or layers of canvas.
