Quilting Question.... My first quilt..

    Quilting Question.... My first quilt..
    on: October 13, 2010, 10:24:52 AM
Can anyone tell me the quilting method where you stitch about 1/4" away from the seam?  Is it shadow quilting???  I like this look and wonder if it is suitable for a newbie.  My quilt is a very simple block quilt.  I would appreciate any tips on this technique.  Thank you Smiley

Gosh, I don't remember the name for this technique, but it is a great one. The only tip I have is to try & get a 1/4" quilting foot that way you won't have to guess where your seam should go and it goes smoothly.

There is also 1/4 inch tape available at most quilt shops.  This also makes it easy and keeps everything nice and precise.

It is called outline quilting when you stitch 1/4" away from the seams.  Echo quilting keeps following the outline of a design over and over until it fades into the seams.
