What should I use to insulate....

What should I use to insulate....

...a cover for the handle on our iron skillet? I don't have any Insulbrite, and I'm not sure if I can get any in our town. (don't really want to order online and pay shipping) I've used a mattress pad inside of hotpads before, and that works pretty well but I'm not sure if it would work with a hot handle that you're holding onto for a while. Would multiple layers of quilt batting work?

Sure, just make sure the batting is wool. I have several books that actually recommend wool batting for these types of projects.

Thanks so much! I'll try and it and let you know how it goes. (I hope I have wool batting...  Undecided)
