thanks for your help in advance.

Sure! I've even seen Simplicity patterns using polar fleece for a jumper. Go for it! (Although I would try to use anti-pill since kids are so hard on clothes.)

         Grin Oh ,Thanks

I  thank you so much! My little granddaughter is in  a wheelchair (special needs) so it involves of course sitting (she can't walk) and she can't speak. I thought that maybe it would be a good choice for her to have something nice and warm when she is in school in the winter. Your help is very much appreciated and I'm so happy! Thanks again.
        Best,
        Elise

I've made loads of different clothes from fleece, my kids love how soft and cosy it is. I love it cause if I'm being lazy I don't need to hem it  Wink(in fact I sometime use Ikea blankets for fabric which have a scalloped edge so it looks pretty!).
The only thing is that fleece tends to move and stretch quite alot so pin/baste it well or if you have a walking foot sew with that.

I wanted to give you an update on the polar fleece top and pants for my grandchild,Abby. I have it mostly completed except for the bits and bobs,Yippee!
The advice you both gave was invaluable and I thank you so very much. I hand basted the zipper in and now notice that there are some very tiny threads that were showing after I sewed and then removed the basting...I'm going to be honest here I used a darker color thread so that I could see the basting and unfortunately  Sad it shows. What could I do to "pick" out these tiny leftover basting stitches. I feel so dumb  EmbarrassedAs soon as it is completed I'll post it so you can see all your good and generous help. I thank you again, and Abby thanks you too !
Postscript: The pattern I used was a Vintage Butterick 3316,size 7

Oh, annoying basting threads!  Can you get at them with some tweezers?
