Need help! Does anyone have a tutorial on needlepoint finishing?

Does anyone have experience with finishing needlepoint stockings? I have missed the deadlines for finishers, and have finally finished my children's stockings. They are wonderful handpainted canvases, and I want to do it right. I think I need to clean and block them, and then add the lining and outside, but have no experience doing it. I wish my Grandma was still alive, she did lots of her own blocking, and some finishing, but I was too young to know what she was up to! Can you suggest any resources to get information? I really would like to have them done to decorate our mantle and finally fill them! Thanks so much for any help!
