Should i throw away my sewing machine?

I have a Singer industrial hd-110 and I have had it since 2007. I have took it to the shop 2 times already. I am thinking about not going to the shop to get it fix and invest in a janome.
Would it be worth putting out the money for the new janome or keep fixing the singer? thanks tee(petals)

I guess it would depend on what's happening that you're having to take it in.  A good repair person can help you figure what's happening if it's user-related.  No machine is error-proof, so as boring as it is to sit down with the manual, it can be worth your time in the end if it saves you annoying trips to the shop in the middle of sewing up that dress that you need for your big night out.

On a personal note, I have a Janome, and have never had a problem with it that wasn't user-induced.  I'm lucky too to have a very helpful dealer/repair shop who have helped me understand how I've managed to mess it up and done so without judgment.   

Find a better repair shop. It's not the machine, it's the guy that won't admit he doesn't know how to fix it.

I have this very same machine, and have never had a problem with it, maybe you should find a different mechanic.

I would also take it to one other shop before getting rid of it.  I have a Pfaff that was my mom's.  Last year when I inherited it, I had it cleaned and "checked out", and it's been incredible for me.  Don't give up before you know for sure it can't be fixed!
