Need info, advice, suggestions on Bernina Artista 165E

Hi! I am new here to posting but have been a browser/lurker for awhile.
This site and the blog is great and always gets my creative spirits flowing.
I am an avid crafter and in the past have designed and sold many of my items.
Long story short and more about me later...
I have a Bernina 165E and would just like some input... I bought it new when it came out... about 8 years ago- I have used it twice other than the dealer lessons that came with the purchase to familiarize myself with the machine functions.
I went back to work in the corporate world very shortly after purchasing it and am now back at home and ready to get full force into my machine.
I consider myself a beginner sewer still- I sewed when I was a teen, moved on to other priorities and picked it up again when I was in my mid 20's... and again, back to work in corporate world and then doing craft shows in my beading and glass work so no time to sew more than a pillow cover or such... (I did a few projects but nothing extensive)- All using a Singer Model 4562T-(which I still have).
Again, I consider myself a beginner and although I am ready to pull out my machine and get started, I am a bit overwhelmed. First, I am still trying to locate my manual and software. (we bought a house almost 4 years ago and in the move those items were seperated from my machine)- I have been digging through boxes in the garage and I know I will come across them soon.
Again, long story short (and I tend to ramble)- Does anyone have this machine? or the 170? Are there any hints or tips I can use from sewing sites in the operation of the machine? I have scoured tutorials for the Bernina and although going back to basics of sewing is great... I need help with the actual operation.
OR, should I look at selling my Bernina and get a more up to date machine?
I bought this (present from hubby when I intended to start back up way back when) with intention of never buying another machine, but I have seen not only is the machine discontinued but the updates have stopped as well. (For the embroidery section I am supposing)-
Should this make a difference?
I do intend to do some machine embroidery but other than needing font and being able to add my own designed images when I can- I am not looking to do much more than that right now in embroidery.
Any suggestions, help or advice would be welcome.
I hope to start posting more now that I have come out of the internet wall. LOL
Thx to all.
