Sorry but I didn't know where to do, so I come to all of you who inspire me. I would like to start a quilting group at our church and somehow it fell on my shoulders and I have no idea of where to start!
Background: We are sponsoring a refugee family from Karen Refugee Camp in Thailand. They have 2 children 7 and 10 (boy and girl). I thought that it would be comforting to give the children handmade quilts to cuddle with since our PA winter will probably feel very cold to them.
1. How do I start? What is an easy pattern to do with a variety of skill levels? Any pictures or ideas?
2. How do I ask for supplies...do I just ask people to bring fabric scraps and then we work with what we get?
3. The family will arrive March3rd, but we thought about giving it to them later since we can't finish before their arrival date, but hoping for April?
4. What about the idea of doing one quilt at the church and getting blocks from asking (begging?) online for people to make blocks a certain size? If I had help making the blocks, I could personally sew them together and even quilt and bind it myself, but what are some ideas to keep in mind (block size? colors? etc)
thanks in advance for any advice you can give! I need to sketch out some ideas before sunday....eeek!!
