If you’ve made a Smocked Bishop Dress

If you’ve made a Smocked Bishop Dress

Do you pleat/gather, shape the curved neckline, then smock? Or do you pleat/gather, smock, then shape?

      HI peachypear,

I just saw this and I know it has been a few weeks....so you may not need the information now.  But anyway.....there are several schools of thought on this and you'll just have to decide what works best for you.  I personally have found that I pleat the neckline and then block it.  Then I smock it and then block it again.  Some block it before they smock and some only after.  I just do both because I really want to avoid a "turtle neck" bishop.  After you make a few bishops you will find what works best for you.

I hope this helps you some.  Let me know if you have any other questions.
