Viking 6370....help!

    Viking 6370....help!
    on: April 09, 2011, 04:07:27 PM
My trusty old Viking 6370 won't go ! I have had it for about 30 years...
it has always been a workhorse. Haven't used it for several months...
I have been hand piecing & doing applique. Got my machine out this
week & it will not run. The light goes on...so it's getting electricity &
I can turn the wheel by hand & it stitches. I cleaned the lint around
the presser foot & bobbin area ( minimal )Still no dice....

What can I do ? Has this ever happened to another Viking owner ?
I live in a mountain town & do not have access to a Viking repair shop.
My only option is to take it to the quilt fabric store in the next town
....once a week a repair guy ( from a town two hours away ) will pick
    it up.

    Any ideas ?

This is just my guess, but it sounds like an electrical problem. Since everything still works and is free, (light turns on and hand-wheel works), it's probably the wiring to/from the motor.

Since electrical is tricky, I suggest you take it in to your nearest repair shop.  Undecided

Maybe you could clean the connections - UNPLUG the cord first of course - just clean the connections where the cord plugs into the machine on both the machine and the cord, and see if this solves the problem.  If not, I agree with Irene, and take it to a repair shop.  I know what a pain this is, as I live in a town that I have to drive 2 hours to a repair shop!
