Kitchen gift ideas?

My mom's birthday is coming up soon.  My parents are just finishing building a new home for themselves and so my mom will have a new kitchen!  She is so excited! 

I got this beautiful fabric and think it would be perfect for in her new kitchen, but now I am trying to figure out what items would be best to make.  I thought a set of pot holders or oven mitts (but which would be best? and are they relatively easy to make?), fabric bordered dishtowels, an apron... and what else?  Their new home will have an open concept, so I was thinking of placemats?  Or maybe a table runner?  What about a tea cozy? 

Any suggestions?  Any great tutorials to lead me to? 

I am so excited to do this for my mom.  She has always had cheap dollar store/Walmart/second hand stuff in her house and I am so excited to make her something beautiful!

Those are all good ideas you have.  What about chair pads and /or curtains or valances?  Hope these ideas help.
