HELP: Recommendations for padding to use for a laptop sleeve

Hello Everyone

I want to make myself a laptop cover but most of the tutorials/patterns calls for fusible fleece to use as padding.  The problems is that i cant find this stuff where i reside which is in Oman, so i was wondering what is another alternative you would recommend?

I was thinking of using felt but not really sure how it would hold up..the laptop cover is used mainly to keep the laptop in not necessary to carry around in..

Looking forward to hearing from you..

Thanks

Sew Chic & Unique Handmade, simply unique

Any batting will do - cotton or polyester. Felt would probably be a good substitute, depending on the stiffness of it. Fusible fleece is about the same thickness as felt. You could also use several layers of flannel or any other fabric you have, especially if it is only meant to cover and not really act as padding.

Hope that helps!

If the fusing part is really important, you could use regular fleece and put lightweight fusible on it.

You could use a couple of layers of cotton flannel.  Just baste it to your outer fabric treat it as one piece of fabric.

Can you get thin padding foam where you are?  I made my daughter a laptop sleeve, and I used a thin foam that I got at the local Walmart.  Otherwise, felt in a couple of layers does sound good!
