Cotton Satteen

Hi, I'm looking for advice on sewing with cotton sateen. I have some beautiful fabric I don't want to ruin. Mainly, I'm looking for tips on what kind of needles and what size needles to use. I feel like I want to use a larger needle on thicker fabric, but it seems this often has the effect of punching in on the fabric too much. Thanks!

If the fabric is a heavier weight, use a size 14 sharp needle, if it's lighter weight, use a size 12 sharp.  The smallest size you can use will be the best, because sateen tends to get holes in it because of the finish and they don't press closed like they do on a regular cotton fabric.

      Hope this helps!
