Sewing machine problems

    Sewing machine problems
    on: September 14, 2011, 08:35:51 PM
I'm thinking about bringing my machine in for a tune-up but was wondering what more experienced sewers think of my problem. It seems to me that my machine is feeding my fabric to the left. Does this seem like a legitimate issue with my machine, or could it just be me? Thanks!

Is this a problem with all fabrics or just certain types? Sometimes slippery fabrics or really thick fabrics want to slide out from under the feed dogs.

It could be that your feed dogs are not operating properly and one side is feed faster than the other or something. Be sure to tell the tech specifically what is happening when you take it in. A regular "clean & oil" at most shops will cure a lot of little issues but other things may be above and beyond the basic service.

Sorry, I haven't been on here awhile. Thanks! I think it is all fabrics. I haven't brought it in yet-mostly because I don't want to part with in- but will soon. Thanks again.

The fabric type could definitely be the problem. Are you using a regular 5/8"  seam or a more narrow seam like a 3/8" or 1/4"?  I find that all of my machines tend to pull to the left a bit if I'm using a narrow seam width.

          Hope this helps!
