Trying to choose a sewing machine

Trying to choose a sewing machine
    on: September 15, 2011, 11:12:07 AM
    Hi!

I am new here, I am new at sewing too. I am taking a class in a few weeks. My dream is to start a little business I can do from home making some kids stuff and hopefully some embroidery. My husband is totally supporting my idea and he thinks I should invest in a sewing/embroidery machine, but I don't know much about them. Anyone can tell me more?

The best advice I can give you is to find a machine dealer that you feel comfortable with and go in and try out a few machines. There is a lot to learn with a new machine, especially an embroidery machine. Having a dealer that you like who will take the time to make sure you can use all the features of your new machine is invaluable.

You may also want to ask about a trade-up policy. You may start with something and then really get into and want to upgrade to a higher level machine. Some dealers will give full trade-in value within 6 months if you upgrade.
