Any sites for a quilting beginner?

Any sites for a quilting beginner?
    on: December 13, 2008, 10:26:54 PM
I have been sewing for a while, but the only quilts I have ever done are rag quilts. Are there any sites that would help a quilt newbie? Stitching the top would be no problem, but that's where my knowledge would end. I would need help sandwiching, quilting and binding.

    Thanks in advance Smiley

Have a look at this blog - http://crazymomquilts.blogspot.com/  , she has quite a few tips and tutorials there.

      Good luck!   Smiley

I also like http://crazymomquilts.blogspot.com.  Very helpful with tips and tricks.  SUPER inspiring, too.

I also like www.ohfransson.com a lot.  She does a great job with the photography and updates.  That site also has some good tutorials.

I get a lot of tips from the Fresh Modern Quilts flickr group at http://flickr.com/groups/freshmodernquilts/ .  I like to browse through the photo pool.  Most of the submitters have blogs with posts of how she made the quilt.

I actually put together a post awhile back on all my fav. online quilting resources because I'm completely internet self taught:

          http://handmadebyalissa.wordpress.com/2008/08/20/my-favorite-quilting-resources/

But FIRST on my list is the site everyone else has mentioned: crazymomquilts.blogspot.com.   Amanda Jean is SO SO nice and also a huge inspiration.  She cranks out quilts faster than you can imagine...

Geez, I'm new to the forums and was just scrolling through the threads.  I started looking at the links posted in this one.  An hour and a half later I remembered what I was 'supposed' to be doing.  Great sites!

Also, check the archives here at Sewmamasew for Quilt month.  They have awesome posts and links and so much information to teach and inspire!  Heather Bailey has a continuous binding tutorial that will save your quilting life too...it's in the archives or you can just do a google search on it.  I love to kill hours just hanging around the quilting posts to see what everyone's been doing.   There's also a pretty good video on Mik Nits, Crochets and Quilts too, I'll post it here.  http://mikknits.blogspot.com/2007/09/how-to-finish-quilt-binding-by-machine.html  Have fun!
