    Sewing a bible cover
    on: November 01, 2011, 12:29:25 PM
I tried to do this same project for my niece's baptism but I failed miserably! My nephew is getting baptized one month from today and I really want to successfully create a home sewn bible cover for him. This probably isn't too difficult but I still feel like such a beginner at sewing. So, I'm here for some help. I'm trying not to put too much stress on myself because if it ends up not working out then I will just have to buy one. I saw some bible covers at this site when I was running out of options for my niece but we will see what happens. I would like to try to make one. Thanks for the advice!

If you are pretty new to sewing, I wouldn't recommend trying to make a zippered cover as getting the measurements for the zipper is not the easiest.  You could just make a simple cover like this: http://blog.craftzine.com/archive/2009/08/how-to_sew_a_simple_fabric_boo.html

It'd be easy to add a strap with a snap and a pocket somewhere.  That's all I have for my Bible, and I sewed it when I was probably like 12, and it's still in perfect shape.
