Question about making pdf patterns to sell online

Question about making pdf patterns to sell online
    on: December 19, 2011, 01:58:08 PM
Hi, I sew and I'm thinking of making purse/bag pdf patterns to sell online. I've been told that I could do this in a Word document and then put it into a pdf. Does anyone have any insight or information or how-to's on this, or can someone direct me to a site where I could find this information. I've been searching but have not had any luck. It would be very much appreciated. Thanks so much!

      Hi Joanne,
There are a couple of ways to do this. You can write your pattern using a word program, or other office program that allows the insertion of images etc.
I write my patterns in a basic word program, print this off then add hand drawn illustrations. Then I scan the document, then turn into a PDF
You may have to experiment with a few different options, then pick the one that best suits you. One important thing is to double check that the pattern is the true size of the pattern templates.Sometimes scanning can change the size if settings are not correct. Hope this information helps.
      Warmly Lenna

I make doll clothes and sell the patterns on etsy (pdf).
First I write the pattern in a OneNote document and add pictures and then hold the pattern pieces over the screen and trace with the drawing tool, making sure the screen is on 100%.Then upload that into the Abode pdf thingy.
