    on: April 08, 2012, 02:48:01 PM
hello, im trying to tape my quilt back to my tiled kitchen floor and i am having no success, i have tried painters paper tape and duck tape. the backing is made from a fairly heavy cotton and the tape wont stick to the fabric or the floor. this is the biggest quilt if made so far and i have no other rooms that i can fit it in to.. the quilt isn't that big, its just that my house is tiny Wink

please help - all suggestions welcome

You should be able to use painter's tape on just about any surface. It's not sticking at all? You don't need to pull your fabric super tight- just enough to get the wrinkles out. Maybe you are pulling on the tape too much? I would try the tape again or maybe just use something heavy in the corners to hold it down while you lay the other quilt layers on there.

Maybe ask at Lowes or Home Depot or somewhere similar.  They might have ideas about tape that will stick to tile.

You probably have found a solution already since this post is old. But I'm replying here in case others ever have the same problem.

If the painter's tape didn't work, then maybe grip tape would. It's a special kind of black tape that is used in film/TV/music. It typically doesn't leave adhesive behind, and it sticks and removes easily from almost any surface. (You'd want to test it first on a scrap of fabric.) You can find it at theatrical lighting supply stores, or if you know someone who is a musician or who works in film/TV or at a nightclub, they might have a partly used roll they'd be willing to give or lend to you.
