Thanks!  I kept thinking it would be lumpy the way I was picturing it.

They are great for coasters as well.  Thanks for talking about putting pieces together to use for a quilt. I was wondering whether if they could be seen if you zig zagged them together Smiley

I've used them for softies, pillows, camera straps, camera cases....the list goes on and on!  I try not to waste anything.  I've never tried putting them together to use for new quilts though, good idea!

I use them to stuff pillows or stuffed animals with. I kind of fluff the pieces out first so it doesn't look lumpy.

I've used them in quilted coasters and for some backing on embroidery projects (framed) to give the embroidery some depth.

                  Hi,
I also use them for coasters and felt ornaments.

The last thing I did used strips leftover from quilting- I stacked several strips, sewed a fabric sleeve around it and weighted it with a bit of sand to make a door snake. We're in the middle of a nasty cold spell!

I use them for making quilted coasters, coffee cozies, or fabric ornaments. I also stuff softies with them, or add them to pillows I am making. But you all have some great ideas that I will use in the future!

I too join the pieces together with a zig zag stitch and use them in quilts, coasters, kitchen mitts, hot pads, or anything that uses batting. It's a great way to use up those scraps!

For the smallest pieces of cotton batting, I cut them into 1/2" x 3" strips and use them to stuff knit and crocheted soft toys, and to line washable cloth diapers, liners , and nursing pads.  For stuffing cloth toys, cutting the strips even smaller will prevent a lumpy appearance.  I have also sewn larger pieces together (on the diagonal) with a zigzag stitch to use as the lining for baby and lap quilts, potholders, oven mitts, and quilted doll clothing.  I find this does a good job of ensuring that the batting will stay in place once the item is washed and then used.

Stuff things, make ornaments, sew them together with other pieces to make a bigger piece, and save them for "something."  The last one has always been my downfall in most craft areas. Smiley
