What do you do with your small batting pieces?

I too join the pieces together with a zig zag stitch and use them in quilts, coasters, kitchen mitts, hot pads, or anything that uses batting. It's a great way to use up those scraps!

Thanks for this idea.  I tried this when I was making a portable changing pad a couple of weeks ago.  It worked perfectly!

I recently used some scraps to make soft ornaments for our Christmas tree that my toddler could easily play with.  They turned out really cute!

I kind of obsessively horde every scrap of all of my fabrics and batting and when the bins start overflowing I know it's time to come up with a project for the bits.  I found that this is a great way to challenge myself and look at the materials I use in a different way.

This is precisely how I came up with what has become my staple product--cloth books.  Since the pages in my books are around 6" square my idea of a scrap of batting is fairly small.  I often pair these little batting scraps with scraps of fabric to make matching games for kids or, of course, coasters!

I like to use mine for small stuffies for my puppy to play with.

What a great idea! I haven't done anything with mine yet, I just have an enormous bag full of scraps that I couldn't bring myself to throw out.

I often teach beginners to quilt.  Because I almost always use cotton batting, it is great for hotpads.  I cut 3"-4" squares from my scraps for students to practice machine piecing with.  After making a 4 patch or 9 patch block, we then layer block, batting and backing to practice some simple machine quilting.  Then as lessons progress we use our potholders to practice applying binding.

First of all I would like to say that I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this fabric! I would use it to make coasters. I do this by attaching a square or circle to a wooden base and adding a glaze so it is preserved and showcased forever.  I may also use it to add to aprons..a pocket or trim AND I would use them to make potholders for my retro kitchen. Thank you for considering me!

I use my small pieces of left-over batting to line bibs I make as gifts. I have also used them in making small zipper bags and drawstring mug bags. Everyone seems to love to get those items as gifts.

I use long narrowish strips as interlining for fabric scarves - makes them super warm and cozy!

Me and my girls make little rabbits and kittens out of 'The Cute Book' and stuff them with a little batting.
