Modern Heirloom Sewing??
on: June 25, 2012, 08:14:20 PM
I was just introduced to heirloom sewing (thanks to a wonderful Martha Pullen workshop) and made a fantastic peasant blouse on a serger. The blouse feels modern because the color scheme was black and white, but still incorporated lace and entredeux insertion. My question is this: Is anyone doing (truly) modern sewing with heirloom techniques? I would love to see some examples but have not come up with any so far. What I am seeing is the traditional baby gowns, etc. with heirloom sewing. What I'm trying to imagine is Amy Butler or Anna-Marie Horner style crossed with heirloom techniques to make it feel current. Anyone??
