A doll for my niece

    A doll for my niece

    My Mom wanted to find a nice soft doll for my 3 month old niece for Christmas but she really wanted to have something handmade.  Not being able to sew herself, she asked me to make a doll for her.  This is what I came up with.

    I'm not sure how to add a picture here in the forum yet, but here's a link to my Flickr photo which I also put in the Sew Mama Sew photo pool on Flickr.

              We gave it to her last night and she reached up for it and held it to her little chest.  It was really precious.  Yea for handmade!

                Your doll is really cute.  I have attempted 2 dolls, how do you get the neck to stay stiff?  Help!

                  I was thinking the neck was going to be rather floppy too, but I just made sure that I stuffed it really tightly.  It's still a little floppy, but a soft doll should be a little floppy I think.  Smiley

                    I think that too, being floppy, but my critic, err hubby, always asks, "is it supposed to be like that?"  I seriously think that is his way of saying he LOVES everything I make, because it is usually the first thing out of his mouth when I show him new stuff! Smiley
