Serger thread

    Serger thread
    on: October 18, 2012, 01:51:16 PM
Just got a new basic Brother 1034 serger. Do I need to purchase 3-4 spools of serger thread or does anyone have any tips on not having to have all the different spools. I cant even imagine having to store 4 cones of each color.
     Undecided

    Thanks everyone

Most of the time, the thread from your serger doesn't really show so you can just use whatever is in there.  Also, if you want to match a color (like a rolled hem or somewhere it will show) you can wind bobbins and put those on the spool pins of your serger.  That way you don't have to keep all those cones of thread.  I have this storage bin

and it is great for keeping all the cones in!

Personally, I have about 4 different colors for my serger. Since the thread is rarely seen, I don't think you need an exact match. The colors I have are:
          white, grey, navy, and black.
