A Chest of Drawers Repurpose Project
    on: December 30, 2008, 10:49:33 PM
    Hi
I have just posted a tutorial that is not exactly sewing related - but as a sewer - I also dabble in papercraft and furniture repurposing - so I thought maybe some of you did too!
    www.louisestuart.typepad.com

Anyway - I took a very ordinary looking chest of drawers and created a lovely piece of furniture that is a real feature.  My daughter has some health issues and I wanted the furniture to be inspirational for her too!  It features words on the drawer fronts and some lovely inspirational quotes from Oprah, Dr Seuss and Christopher Robin on the sides.  Yes - an eclectic mix isn't it!

My tutorial is in the right column and is a list of tips, techniques and resources I used that might give you some inspiration!  I am happy to provide some one on one tips too if you have any specific questions.

Soon I will develop some little sewing tutorials too...

    my best,
    Louise

Oh that is so beautiful. I would love to redo a chest like that! It really opens up so many choices to match decor. Truly beautiful & one of a kind. I really love it!!

Beautiful chest of drawers - I might try this someday, I love making old things look new again!  You have a wonderful blog, too (I've visited it twice today in catching up on my forum reading).

That was nice of you Andi!  My husband brought home an old school desk in need of some love. It is one that contains the seat and a sloping desk iwth a lift up table and inkwell.  Jack has decided he wants it painted in his favourite colours of... Red, Orange and yellow.  Ala Hot Wheels.  Not looking forward to that redo!!!  Maybe if I sew some groovy flame fabric cushions and just paint it one of those colours?!

I loved this idea so much that I did my daughter's dresser similarly!
