Issues with sewing fleece

    Issues with sewing fleece

    Hey Everyone,

I am new to sewing, as I just got my first machine for Christmas. It is a very basic machine called the Singer Prelude. I have had no problems with it so far and have used it a lot. I have made several pairs of pajama pants and reversible winter hats. I usually use flannel and regular fleece with no issues. I needed black fleece to finish a hat I was working on and the only type they had at the store was a bit thinner and more stretchy than usual. Whenever I try to sew it together the loops are huge or the thread underneath gets all tangled together. I tried playing with the tension and have had no luck. My machine works fine with other materials it is just this one fleece! Someone told me to try and get a walking foot but I do not think they sell them for my machine (it has snap on feet). I am at a total lose and have been searching info for hours now!

Any advice on how to finish this project with this kind of fleece would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

try using a different needle, one for stretchy fabric
you may also have to adjust the tension for the fabric also
make sure the top thread does not come off the thread take up lever.
