Singer Prelude-bobbin jams/thread breaks

Hi all. i am hoping someone can help me out here. I have the Singer Prelude and recently began noticing more and more that the thread is getting all jammed up while I am sewing. I can't sew very fast or it will do it for sure, but even at a nice even pace it's doing it. When i pull the fabric I am sewing out there is extra broken thread in where the bobbin is-although I think it's from the top thread in the needle. I also just tightened up the tension on the bobbin, but it's still doing it. I just can't figure it out and am so frustrated.

I did take the assembly apart that holds the bobbin and it is clean. Do I maybe just need to oil it somewhere?s

I have a Singer Prelude, and began having the same problem. I actually found, I had to buy a more expensive thread... I haven't had any problems since!
