Hemming insulated drapery

I need to hem insulated draperies and would like advice on how to do it.  If doing by hand and machine the needle will make a hole in the insulated material and if I want to take the hem out someday the curtains will be ruined.  Any ideas of alternate temporary hemming?

You can always try the no-sew hemming tapes (Heat-n-Bond or Steam a Seam 2).  These usually require heat to activate the glue, but I've heard of many people using these on hems.  The Steam a Seam 2 has paper on both sides of the glue which you can peel off and position on your fabric for a temporary hold.  Then after you are sure of your hem, you can iron it in place.  I'm not sure how well it would work on insulated curtains, but I've read that many have used it on jeans and it lasts even after washing!
