Anyone sewing for Valentines Day

    Anyone sewing for Valentines Day
    on: January 11, 2009, 10:18:26 PM
Just wondering if anyone has any projects they are working on for Valentines Day. I need to come up with something to make so I can decorate my house.I don't really have any valentines decorations. I am thinking I should at least make some heart pillows but I really could use some ideas of other things to make. Seems kind of early to be thinking of Valentines but at the pace I seem to get things done recently I need to start working on them now.

I'm actually going to make my twins cloth dolls with an outfit or two. I think they will like it.

Last year, I made some cute chain-sewn dangling heart decorations.  It was fast, easy and cheap!
I used three shades of pink and red construction paper and cut out different sized hearts.  I then sewed down the middle of each heart, but I didn't cut the thread between each heart.  After sewing through the middle of one, I continued sewing a "tail" for a couple inches and then added another heart under my pressure foot.  After chain sewing all the hearts, I think I had about 15, I cut them into 4 sections and hung the hearts by the thread from a clear tack in my ceiling.
I can't find where I stashed them, but if I do, I will post a picture.

I just made a dozen little puffy hearts, somewhat like a project recently in Cloth Paper Scissors.  I used scraps from a bunch of wild, colorful batiks and prints, cut out pairs, sewed together with raw edges out, stuffed, embellished, and call them good.  I think I'll hang them as a mobile.

Well I ended up joining a Valentine's sewing swap just so I COULD sew for Valentine's Day, lol Grin I'm thinking about doing a scarf.
